What FredIQ does not assess
The limits of FredIQ outputs. Structural design, wind suction, anchorage load capacity, the fire safety design of the building and other things that must be documented by other means.
FredIQ calculates quantities, bills of materials, plans and drainage assessments. It does not issue a structural or fire safety assessment of the building. This overview summarises the limits that the application states for the individual modules and in the protocols. It is a list of things that must be documented by other means, not a list of unfinished features.
FredIQ does not replace a professional review
- FredIQ outputs require a professional review and do not replace an assessment by an authorised person.
- Every protocol states this in the “Important notice” section: the design does not replace a professional design with an assessment of the actual condition of the structure.
- If the check in the application reports no blocking finding, that is all it means. It is not an expert opinion that the design complies.
Structural design and wind load
- FredIQ does not calculate wind suction or the structural design of the roof structure.
- Roof-cladding anchoring: you enter the anchor densities per m² from an assessment made outside FredIQ. From them, the application places the anchors in the welds of the waterproofing and calculates the clamping lengths. The building height in the anchoring is used only to define the anchoring zones.
- The component lengths (telescope, screw) are determined by the anchor manufacturer from the clamping lengths. FredIQ neither determines nor verifies them.
Load capacity of fall protection anchor points
- For the fall protection system, the application does not assess the load capacity of the anchor point or the structural design of the anchorage into the substrate or the structure.
- The load capacity is demonstrated by a structural calculation or a pull-out test. This applies regardless of the result of the design check.
- The document lists only generic components. The specific system is chosen and confirmed by the supplier.
Drainage
- The drainage assessment compares the design flow with the number and capacity of the installed drains.
- It covers neither pipe sizing nor the structural design of the roof structure. Nor does it for emergency drainage.
Green roof
- The module issues quantities: areas, volumes, trim lengths and the saturated load as a basis for the structural engineer.
- It does not assess the structural design or the wind load.
- The fire protection of the building is determined by the fire safety design of the building. The rules by which the module refuses to issue a schedule for clearly unsuitable geometry do not replace it.
Pitched roof
- The covering assessment compares the pitch of each plane with the data of the covering manufacturer. It does not assess the structural design of the roof framing or the snow and wind loads.
- The batten layout does not replace the design of the roof framing. The drawing does not cover counter-battens or the batten cross-section according to the load. For trapezoidal sheet metal, the batten spacing is the maximum from the installation guide and a structural engineer may adjust it.
- Drainage, roof-cladding anchoring and fall protection are available in FredIQ only for flat roofs.
Facade
- The facade panel layout does not cover structural design: panel fixing, the substructure or anchoring into the supporting wall. The designer specifies these according to the manufacturer’s documentation.
- The notice is always included in the facade chapter of the protocol.
Prices
FredIQ does not work with prices. Schedules and bills of materials are a basis for ordering, they contain no pricing.
Drawing documentation
FredIQ is not a general CAD program and does not work with arbitrary drawing content. You can download the flat roof design as a DXF drawing, see DXF export.
