Manufacturer catalogue in FredIQ

How products get into the FredIQ catalogue, who manages the catalogue, what is calculated from the manufacturer's data and when a manufacturer appears on the FredIQ home page.

Who manages the catalogue

  • The product catalogue is managed by the operator of FredIQ. The manufacturer company does not edit it in the portal and does not create or upload products itself.
  • Designers choose products from the catalogue directly in the project: waterproofing, drains and overflows, green roof build-ups and pitched roof coverings.
  • For facades, also facade panels.
  • A manufacturer cannot buy a calculation or a ranking: no plan changes the calculations, the order of products in the selection or which projects the manufacturer sees.

How products get into the catalogue

  1. FredIQ takes the technical data from the manufacturer's documentation: technical data sheets, declarations of performance and installation instructions.
  2. A value that is missing from the documentation stays empty in the catalogue. FredIQ does not fill it in with an estimate, and a calculation that needs it says so.
  3. Where the documents disagree, the more cautious option is chosen.
  4. A product is offered in projects only when it is approved and active in the catalogue.

The catalogue contains no prices. Schedules and bills of materials are documents for ordering; they contain no prices.

What is calculated from the manufacturer's data

The catalogue is not a price list or a list of names. Product data feeds directly into the calculations:

  • Waterproofing: roll width and length and the overlap for anchoring. They determine the number of rolls and the spacing of the weld lines in the anchor plan.
  • Drains and overflows: the drain capacity from the catalogue is compared with the required discharge in the drainage assessment.
  • Roof coverings: cover dimensions, minimum and safe pitch and the manufacturer's batten spacing. They determine the pitch assessment, the covering schedule and the batten drawing.
  • Green roofs: the layers of the build-up and their weights for quantities and imposed load.

When product data changes

  • Stored results that rely on the changed value (for example the bill of materials or the anchor plan) are marked as outdated in the projects. The designer recalculates them.
  • For a roof covering, after a change in the catalogue the schedule waits for confirmation by the designer in the Covering module.
  • The drainage assessment is not stored; it is always calculated from the current data.
  • A product withdrawn from the range is no longer offered for a new selection. Projects that use it keep it.
  • Released revisions of protocols and supplier documents do not change when the catalogue changes.

Manufacturer on the FredIQ home page

  • The FredIQ home page has a section “Manufacturer catalogues in FredIQ”. Manufacturers are listed there by category (for example flat roof waterproofing, roof drainage, green roofs and roof coverings) and alphabetically. It is not a recommendation or a rating.
  • A manufacturer appears in the section when the operator of FredIQ publishes it and it has at least one approved and active product in the catalogue. A manufacturer that the operator removes from the page disappears from it immediately.
  • The logo is shown only with the manufacturer's consent, which the operator of FredIQ records. Without consent, the section shows the manufacturer's name.
  • Logos inside the application, for example in the product selection, are not affected by this consent.

Catalogue and manufacturer portal

  • The operator of FredIQ assigns manufacturers in the catalogue to the manufacturer company. The Manufacturer statistics are calculated from them.
  • An overview of the portal is given in the guide Manufacturer portal.
